I get this question a lot. The best answer I can give you is not to touch anything
you don't understand. Always, Always make sure the washer is unplugged.
Getting into washers these days can be very tricky. A lot of do it your selfers
tend to pull the washing machine out and start unscrewing screws on the back of the machine in an attempt to access
the inner workings of the machine. This is a big No No.
By unscrewing the wrong screws you can accidentally cause mechanical parts on the
inside of the machine to fall inside the machine housing and damage them.

Some older belt driven machines have an access panel in the
rear.

Most machines are opened up from the front or top of the washing
machine. Prying and pulling on the wrong areas can permanently
damage connectors and the metal housing of your machine and you still might not get it
open.
|
| Even if you manage to get to the inner workings of
the washing machine, do you have any idea what your looking at? Do you thoroughly understand what each
of the components do and how they interact with each other? |

Before you decide you want to do the washer repair yourself I would consider
what you have read here. It usually costs anyware around $100 or less to
have a Professional come out and diagnose the problem. Many professionals will waive the fee you pay to diagnose your machine if you decide
to have them do the repairs. So you only pay for the repair labor and parts and of course sales tax on the
part.
